The Crow

I have prevailed over the dreaded batteries and have made a new video. This time it's all about the crow pose. This is a very tricky balancing pose where all of your body's weight is on your hands and wrists while your knees are resting on your elbows. It is very good for all of us because we sit behind a computer more than we were designed too so or wrists get week and our hand muscles get shorter. The crow is very good for reversing both of these things and also in helping us with developing a stronger upper body and over all focus. If you don't focus you will fall so just be careful. Don't make any sudden movements either or you could hurt yourself. Just try it and do it along with me as much as you can. Remember, it's about the practice itself and not the end result. We are only here to enjoy the ride.

Rechargable Batteries

Aren't reliable.

I just spent the whole morning making beautiful videos for you in the sun only to find that the batteries in my mic died halfway through the first one even though I tested them before we began. They usually give me a warning light but this time, nothing. I will do my best to get a new one up ASAP but not sure if I will have the time this week. That being said, you still have time to make a special request.

No Ego

Yesterday I decided to visit an old yoga studio where I used to practice many years ago because I loved the lesson and the teacher so much but I left because after a couple of years they started to change. They moved into a bigger location, started offering more lessons and the entire atmosphere wasn't what it used to be. The teacher's became sort of self proclaimed gurus, even offering yogic counseling, whatever that is, and the students were so hip and so cool that they pushed the teachers even higher up on their pedestals.

Upon my return I noticed that things had changed even more but for the worse. There was such a 'holier than thou' presence from the students because to them I was the new guy. The smugness combined with ego was suffocating and made me feel claustrophobic. I almost felt shunned but I put my mat down and let it go hoping to enjoy the lesson as much as I used to. Sadly the lesson was not worth the experience. I used to leave this place feeling like I could conquer the world but this time I left feeling like, why did I come here?

I can only hope that myself, my lessons and my student body do not ever have this effect on anyone. This is what I strive for. To make yoga available to everyone and to let the jargon go. I love my students and my yoga practice and only want them all to bring niceness towards each other and never smugness.
